The Gulf of Mexico is a powerful economic engine both regionally and nationally. Unfortunately, it has suffered numerous blows over the last century which have damaged its productivity and resiliency.
As the area anticipates the flow of money from the oil spill fines, we face new opportunities to rebuild our economy and restore our environment. We hope to foster collaboration among businesses, workers, agencies, and community groups that will result in stronger businesses, more jobs, and a more resilient community.
“I am very optimistic about the future of the Gulf, because I feel that the business and environmental communities are coming together and recognize that wise steweardship of Gulf resources is a must in order for both economic and environmental objectives to be realized.” –Emery Baya, Sr. Vice President & Principal Environmental Engineer, Thompson Engineering
